Presenter: Elizabeth Klein DO | The Jewish Hospital Background: Abdominal pain in bariatric patients after sleeve gastrectomy and significant weight loss is concerning for multiple differential diagnoses from food intolerance, concern hiatal hernia, to biliary disease. We present a unique case of 32-year-old female presenting with left upper quadrant abdominal pain, that began losing 100 pounds laparoscopic gastrectomy. She has history asymptomatic incidentally found splenic cyst on CT scan at the age 26. Methods: Extensive workup repeat abdomen pelvis, right ultrasound, esophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed chronic cholecystitis stable cyst. Decision was made proceed robotic cholecystectomy possible excision if no other clear etiology LUQ found. Results: Diagnostic laparoscopy showed inflammatory changes around indicating this cause pain.
